Choi Eun-hee

Choi Eun-hee (November 20, 1926 – April 16, 2018) was a South Korean actress, who was one of the country's most popular stars of the 1960s and 1970s. In 1978, Choi and her then ex-husband, movie director Shin Sang-ok, were abducted to North Korea, where they were forced to make films until they sought asylum at the US Embassy in Vienna in 1986. They returned to South Korea in 1999 after spending a decade in the United States.

Choi Eun-hee estrelou mais de 150 filmes, sendo a atriz principal em muitas produções da década de 1960 da Seoul Films, fundada por seu marido, o diretor Shin Sang-ok. Seus trabalhos notáveis incluem "The Houseguest and My Mother" (1961), "Evergreen Tree" (1961) e "The Red Scarf" (1964). Seu último lançamento sul-coreano antes do sequestro foi "The Tiger An Dong-chun" em 1976.

Ela recebeu o prêmio de Melhor Atriz no Grand Bell Awards por "The Houseguest and My Mother" (1961) e por "A Bloodstained Barricade" (1962). Choi foi uma das atrizes mais bem pagas e comercialmente viáveis de sua época, frequentemente chamada de "a primeira-dama do cinema sul-coreano". Após seu retorno à Coreia do Sul, foi condecorada com a Ordem do Mérito Cultural em 2006.
